Getting Started

I have set up this blog to keep track of my art journey. Here I am a 56 finally getting to live my passion full time. I love my life. I have always loved my life but this part of it feels like the reward. I have always had an overwhelming desire to create. When time was short and I didn't have resources it was gardening or doing cutesy craft projects. I start to feel quite strange if I don't do some creating on a regular basis. I never go on a trip without a stash of art supplies.
I have always wanted to be an artist. That word is so loaded. If you allow yourself to say those dreaded words, "I'm an artist" well you open yourself up to all sorts of trouble. First one is...who the hell do I think I am that I would dare call MYSELF an artist. Am I good enough? Then there is the questions? What do you do? and how successful are you? Most people come straight out and say pretty quickly "Do you sell anything". That is how we judge artists at this time in history. If you sell your work than you are a successful artist. No sales no glory.
